Replace plastic with food safe cartonboard
CefaTray is Moltzau Packaging’s patented wood fiber-based cartonboard tray. Designed for recycling, CefaTray is approved for food contact and made with virgin wood fiber from sustainable Nordic forests.
The patented forming technology behind CefaTray enables the production of cartonboard trays for food and household items, with properties comparative to the likes of plastic and aluminum-based alternatives.
CefaTray offers three standard variants that can be further customized: GREEN, MAP & HEAT.
Form & Function
CefaTray is constructed by folded cartonboard, and is closed by a sealed lid or with film. Due to its structure, CefaTray offers excellent strength and stackability, and at the same time, it is accessible and EasyOpen.
To ensure packaging optimization and void minimization, in accordance with EU PPWR, CefaTray is customized to the specific product. Further customization offers great flexibility, as CefaTray’s exterior is fully printable, hence increasing the surface area that can be used to display relevant information and branding, compared to plastic or aluminum solutions that use a separate sleeve. This can benefit the end user to recycle the packaging properly after use.

GREEN
Less than 5% plastic: Mono-material that adhere to the minimum plastic content of total packaging weight.

Recycled vs. Recyclable Materials
For it to be approved for food contact, CefaTray is not made from recycled material, but instead, the cartonboard used is made of virgin wood-fiber from renewable resources. This ensures that CefaTray stays strong & clean, and is recyclable after use.
CefaTray enters the recycling loop as virgin cartonboard and can then be used as recycled material for other packaging purposes. Without a supply of virgin fiber, the recycling of general consumer packaging would grind to a halt.
In Norway alone, the annual consumption of plastic packaging from the food industry accounts for approximately 58 500 metric tons. By reducing the amount of plastic packaging, we reduce the amount of plastic waste and microplastics, both in our bodies and in nature. By switching to CefaTray, companies are contributing to reducing the consumption of plastic packaging, taking precautionary measures to protect life below water and on land.
A Complete Packaging Solution
